Dr. Nancy Paloma Collins is a licensed marriage and family therapist in California and Texas with over a decade of experience in trauma treatment and mental health. Her work focuses on supporting marginalized communities, including Latina women and transgender Latina individuals impacted by domestic violence, as well as the broader LGBTQIA+ and Latinx populations. Dr. Collins’ research explores the effects of domestic violence on desire and sexuality within the Latina community, integrating the transformative power of storytelling as a tool for healing and growth.

Rooted in a multicultural lens, Dr. Collins uses a compassionate and authentic approach to therapy. She incorporates advanced modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman, Imago, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Seeking Safety. These techniques empower her clients to develop lifelong skills, enabling them to stay present and lead fulfilling lives.

Dr. Collins earned a PhD in human sexuality, Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and Bachelor of Arts in Multicultural-Urban Education. She has worked in non-profit community mental health settings, private practice, and as an educator, entrepreneur, and speaker. Her professional background includes serving victims of crime, homeless families, and survivors of domestic violence, enriching her expertise in comprehensive treatment for individuals and families.

In her therapy sessions, Dr. Collins emphasizes understanding family origins, attachment styles, and communication patterns to create focused treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs. Her areas of specialization include relationship issues, family dynamics, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
