My name is Brenda Galvan, I’m an associate clinical social worker under supervision. I am bilingual first-generation Mexican American born in Los Angeles CA, raised in the Central Valley. My fuel is coffee, working out, and my family. My interest in this field grew from the desire and interest to be able to help others and have the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life. I received my bachelor’s degree in social work from California State University, Fresno and my master’s in social work at California State University, Los Angeles. I also completed the Pupil Personnel Services Credential at the University of California, Los Angeles.
I have 10 years of experience working under the social work field. I have experience working with culturally diverse populations with non-profit community-based organizations, schools, medical social work and case management. I have worked with a large age range of individuals starting from 5 years old and up, however most of my experience has been working with adolescents and young adults.
My therapeutic approach includes strength-based client centered, trauma informed, motivational interviewing, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT. I have worked with presenting issues such as behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, safety concerns, trauma, grief and bereavement, familial issues, incarcerations, relationship difficulties and life transitions. I believe in empowering each individual to reach their fullest potential, utilizing a variety of modalities based on their unique needs.
